Weekend Fun at the New England Aquarium

Until the weather thaws, we suggest staying indoors for your weekend fun and heading to the New England Aquarium, just a short drive from our South End hotel. With more than eighty African, Rockhopper and Little Blue Penguins, the museum is designed in a way that the penguins can be seen from anywhere in the aquarium. In the gigantic coral reef exhibit, sharks and turtles live in harmony. I recommend visiting some of my favorite exhibits: the Amazon Rainforest, Marine Mammal Center, and the education exhibit the Blue Planet Center, which presents the serious challenges facing the oceans today. There is also a touch tank exhibit for children to stick their hands into the cold water of the tidal basic and get close and personal with starfish, sea urchins, and hermit crabs. The aquarium is big enough to spend the day here and with amazing views of Boston’s waterfront, you won’t mind staying indoors. Stay for lunch at the Harbor View Café, located on the Aquarium’s second floor. To end your trip, grab a few souvenirs at the gift shop for lasting memories.
