Blog: Boston on a Budget

Quiet in the Library

Interested in a fun free day touring extraordinary architecture and murals? Then The Boston Public Library should be your next stop. Located less than ten minutes from our South End hotel, the Boston Public Library offers a free tour of its space. The "Art and Architecture Tour" of the building is offered most of the days of the week. Learn about the architecture and then head inside to check out works by Daniel Chester French and John Singer Sargent. The tours are led by funny, sharp-witted and knowledgable guides that will take you from the McKim Building vestibule through the library’s Dartmouth Street entrance. For groups larger than eight people, you must reserve a private tour. Tours are scheduled at different times of the day so check out the website for best tour times.
